We operate a respite care program within a licensed program. Lakes Homes recognizes that a family with a handicapped member can experience stress far beyond what a “normal” family experiences. Respite care, which can be defined as temporary care and supervision for a handicapped person, can reduce the stress a family feels because of an emergency, a trip, or needing a few days routine relief; as well as providing the handicapped individual an opportunity to change their own routine, make relationships outside of the family, or mingle with their peers for recreational purposes. We will help families wherever possible in meeting the need for respite care.

Respite care has the following features:

  • Located in a licensed foster home
  • 1 bed (child or adult)
  • New constructed home in March of 2003
  • 1 level wheelchair accessible
  • Single bedroom, with ceiling transfer lift available
  • Wheelchair accessible vehicle available
  • Services can be provided up to 30 days at a time
